1) REGISTRATION: To participate, complete the pilot registration form and send to dean@usxcleague.com in either .doc or .pdf. Send the registration forms to me in advance of your first meet attendance in order for me to add them to the Pilot ID page, and add them into the scoring software database.

2) WAIVER: All pilots must complete the waiver form. This form must be signed and HAND DELIVERED to the meet director on site before you can participate in any of the planned meets. You only have to fill out a waiver once a year.

3) WAYPOINT LIST: The files available for download below are identical in content. Determine which format is most compatible with the application you'll be using, and save that file to your hard drive. If you have a Mac or simply prefer to download to your GPS using a different application, I've included a couple different waypoint formats. If you're using a Mac and don't already have an application to be able to upload/download waypoints and tracklogs, try using GPS Dump or GPSBabel.

.wpt  (Santa Barbara and Marshall Waypoint files)
.mps (Santa Barbara and Marshall Waypoint files)

.wpt  (Owens Valley Waypoint file)
.mps  (Owens Valley Waypoint file)

*I would prefer league participants to upload waypoints to their GPS units before attending a meet. Doing this ahead of time will save time for me during the meet. I realize not all pilots are able to do this, so I will be able to upload waypoints in the morning of each meet if needed. If you need instructions on how to upload waypoints to your GPS, read the tutorials that are available on this page. Please bring your own GPS cable in order for me to upload from my laptop. The only cables I will have on site will be cables for the Garmin 76 series, and cables for the Flytec/Brauniger 5030, 6020 and 6030.

Waypoint Maps: Download the maps to use for the tasks. The documents have a topographical map with waypoint details included; which comes in real handy on launch if you find a waypoint missing from your GPS and need to input it manually. The .jpg files are included as an alternative.

4) TRACK LOGS: If you are in a hurry and cannot stick around after your flight to have your tracklog downloaded by the scorekeeper, you must download and submit your tracklog by midnight on Tuesday following the weekend league event. Why Tuesday - you ask? All the pilots that flew in the weekend event will want to see thier results a.s.a.p., but the event can't be scored until all the tracklogs are in. If you don't want to submit your tracklog you don't have to submit it, but if you want your tracklog to be scored and posted, and you submit your tracklog after the deadline, it probably won't be scored. GPSDump is the recommended software to use for downloading your tracklog to your computer. There are tutorials available below to help you do this. Tracklogs must be saved in .kml format and submitted by email to the meet director.

5) GPSDump: Waypoints need to be uploaded to your GPS, and tracklogs need to be downloaded. GPSDump is highly recommended for this process simply because its so easy to use and the application is very small in size. You can download the latest version of GPSDump (for PC and MAC) from their website. Once at the site click on the GPSDump link (second link from the top of the links on the left side) and save the application to your hard drive. If you prefer, you can download it from this site as well.

GPSDump ver 4.55 (PC version)
GPSDumpMac ver .22 (for Mac)

TUTORIALS - I've written tutorials on using GPSDump to upload waypoints, and for downloading tracklogs. Both tutorials are available below and should make using the GPSDump application very easy.

IMPORTANT - Whether you use GPSDump or a different application for downloading your tracks, PLEASE - PLEASE use the format example below for naming your .kml files before you send it to me. Using this format will save me a lot of time when I'm trying to locate it - THANK YOU.

Just to be clear - the date you use in the file name should match the date of the flight log. The date in the example is September 6, 2008.

IMPORTANT - Set your GPS up with the following settings for the tasks:
